IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: (646) 470-3499
NEW
YORK - (January 3, 2011) After a year of planning, meetings
and discussions, Shelomo Alfassa, an Independent who sought
New York's 9th District Congressional seat in the House
of Representatives, announced an 'indefinite hiatus' of
his Congressional Exploratory Committee.
"The
process of running for office is one of the preeminent Democratic
liberties we have entitled to us as Americans, and I am
glad that I had the opportunity to have surveyed this extraordinary
freedom, particularly-in the great State of New York"
he said.
Initiated
through discussions in May of 2009 and launching in the
Fall of 2010, Mr. Alfassa assembled a team of people who
supported his desire and hoped to see him represent the
diverse ethnic communities of Brooklyn and Queens New York.
These geographic areas are made up of large populations
of Orthodox Jews, including prominent pockets of Jews from
Syria, Egypt, Lebanon, Bukharia and Russia and non-Jewish
communities of well established Roman Catholic Italian and
Irish families as well as many Chinese families.
