The Enemy Within
(Jewish Entertainers and Christmas)

10 December 2003

Editorial by S. Alfassa for the World Sephardi News Service (WSNS)

Another December in the Diaspora, another month of being immersed in Christian holidays songs. On the radio, in the car, on our televisions and in the stores we shop, our ears and minds are force fed songs about Christmas, the holiday Christians say their man-god was born on.

Throughout the year it's hard enough to keep uninformed Jews away from the messages Christian missionaries dispense, the stealthy tactics they exploit to coach them into believing Christian concepts. Now, in this period where the evangelical organizations and missionary groups are very well funded, we have to worry about Christian thoughts and concepts coming from the mouths of Jewish musicians and entertainers.

It's long been recognized American Jewry is in a crisis, literally hundreds of thousands of Jews have been converted to Christianity in the last 30 years. Messages of the Christian man-god Jesus, the virgin of the Christian scriptures known as Mary, and other foreign myths have been pressed against Jews who have little or no acquaintance of their own religion for decades. Having no knowledge of Judaism, many have fell and still fall for the alien dogma.

Jewish members of the entertainment world are continuing their dreadful path of imitating Christians, by singing their songs and praising their religious figures. For example, rock superstar Billy Joel is voicing the lyrics "this is Christ the King" and "With the down of redeeming grace...Jesus, Lord at thy birth." Joel, who was raised in a strict kosher home, resonates on his Christmas album with the lyrics "Right over the place where Jesus lay….Born is the King of Israel." Kenny "G" (Greene), the internationally acclaimed jazz instrumentalist is played throughout the shopping malls in America, especially his songs We Three Kings and O Christmas Tree. The former is a song about the birth of the Christian godhead.

Famed entertainer Barry Manilow is singing I'll Be Home For Christmas, and Ave Maria, which includes the line "Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us." Like the others, by singing these songs he is not helping educate Jews about Judaism, but he is passively validating Christian concepts. His fellow, Brooklyn-born Jewish entertainer Neil Diamond, validates Christian concepts when he sings "Christ the everlasting lord…offspring of a virgins' womb" as well as such blatant anti-Jewish phrases as "Remember Christ our Savior" and "In Bethlehem was born the son of God." Barbara Streisand, the Hollywood self-proclaimed foreign policy expert and self-hating Jew, belts out Christmas Memories and I'll Be Home For Christmas. Streisand, who is listed as a "legend" in the Jewish-American Hall of Fame of the American Jewish Historical Society, joyfully sings the lyrics "blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus" on her Christmas album.

Their large Jewish fan base is proud to shout to the world these entertainers are Jews, even as they croon Gentile tunes. These recording artists are Jews, but their ignorance of their Torá and the history of their people is abundantly obvious. They regrettably fulfill one perpetual fable attributed to the Jewish people. They fulfill the role of the mythical greedy Jew. Their desire for money, their selfish craving for greed allows them to sell themselves out and record these Gentile songs and prayers which no Jew should ever mouth.

An interesting actuality about the "big three," Manilow, Streisand and Diamond, they all have recorded the Roman Catholic (and favorite of the Pope) song Ave Maria. This Christian religious song is a set of prayers taken from Christian scriptures. It is about worshiping the woman Mary as well as Jesus. The lyrics, so flawlessly sung on the ignorant lips of these prominent Jewish mega-artists, recall "blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners."

Outrageous you say? Why on earth would Jews sing such words, why would they bring praise to their lips of the man-god of the Christians, the false messiah which is an antithesis of Judaism? Their is obviously widespread ignorance of Judaism and Torá, this ignorance of their own heritage is apparent and clear.

A fair question one could ask them is, do you sing songs with lines like "blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus" because you want to increase album sales by selling records to fulfill your voracious lust for further greed, or are you a closet Christian who has not admitted you have separated yourself from the Jewish people. As they imitate Gentiles by singing their songs and posing for photos in front of ornamented Christmas trees, these recording artists are responsible for continuing the trio of steps which lead their own people away from the faith of their fathers. In doing this, Jewish entertainers are no better than missionaries, who seek the destruction of the Jewish people through conversions which further assimilation. Imitate, Validate, Assimilate, these are the steps which the Jewish entertainment world is guilty of. Despite the fact that they might not be attempting to proselytize about Christianity intentionally, and albeit the might say their intent might be intrinsic, unfortunately they are not devoid of blame for their unintentional validation of Christian themes and concepts. No one forced them to sing praises of Jesus!

We did not survive as descendants of the Inquisitions of Europe to now sing praises to the man-god which stands as the figure which put us in Inquisitional prisons in the first place. The responsibility has been handed down to us from the murdered victims of the ovens of 20th century Europe to be strong Jews, strong in character, strong in knowledge of our history, and strong in love for our Torá. It is one thing not to be a religious Jew, it is a wholly different endeavor to take actions which result in harm (physically or spiritually) to your people.

Postscript: While the American Jewish Historical Society is busy showering blessing upon Jews who sing about Jesus, and Jewish television producers are putting Barry Manilow's Christmas Special on television, Jews in Israel are fighting for their survival. American Jewish groups such as Hadassah and the Anti-Defamation League are busy supporting non-Jewish causes, so don't expect them to speak up on this issue. Many self-declared Jewish agencies in America (most founded by religious Jews, but today operated by secular staff) are indifferent to the subject. They will make excuses, or say they have no time or must attend to larger issues, but the fact is they are just wholly ignorant of the subject, and thus cannot respond-or are afraid to respond. It is easier to raise money to paint a church and happily deal with the kudos you will receive from the Goyim, then possibly have to stand up for your own people.
